Comprehensive Multidimensional Separations (#90)

Standard one-dimensional chromatographic techniques are generally unable to separate all components of complex samples due to their limited peak capacity and insufficient selectivity. The only solution to this problem is the application of multi-dimensional chromatography. Comprehensive multi-dimensional separation techniques are indispensable when full characterization of the samples is required. Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC) is considered the most powerful technique for the separation of volatile and semi-volatile analytes. It found numerous applications in many areas, including petroleum, environmental, biological and food and fragrance analysis. LCxLC, both on- and off-line, gains increasing acceptance. The number of contributions devoted to this technique is counted in hundreds. Other comprehensive combinations of separation techniques are being explored as well. The symposium will be devoted to all aspects of comprehensive multidimensional separations. Both fundamental aspects and applications of the techniques will be discussed by leading experts in the field.
