Reactive Intermediates and Unusual Molecules (#7)

This symposium will offer presentations of new research revolving around organic and main-group reactive intermediates together with molecules having highly unusual structures. The chemistry of reactive intermediates such as radicals, carbenes, nitrenes and ionic species will be discussed. Speakers will describe applications of direct observational methods including femto, pico and nanosecond time- resolved spectroscopy, gas phase studies, and matrix isolation techniques. Reactivity studies and chemical analysis of stable products formed by reactive molecules will be described. New results on molecules with great strain and unusual architecture or bonding motifs will be presented. Theoretical investigation of reactive intermediates and unusual molecules will be discussed as well.
