Catalytic Multicomponent, Tandem and Cascade Reactions (#455)
Catalytic multicomponent, tandem and cascade reactions are rapidly emerging areas of synthetic chemistry. These transformations share in common their use of catalyst(s) to mediate a series of operations within a single reaction vessel, and can provide the potential to streamline chemical synthesis, limit the amount of waste generated relative to more traditional multistep syntheses, as well as offer efficient access to new classes of products. This symposium will highlight newly developing approaches in this area, in topics ranging from organic synthesis, catalyst design, polymer chemistry, or materials science. In doing so, it will bring together researchers in metal catalysis, organocatalysis, biocatalysis, mechanism, and combinations of these thrusts.
