Dynamic Aspects of Solid Materials: From Equilibrium to Non-equilibrium Systems (#376)

In this symposium, we will discuss about the cutting edge of dynamic aspects of various materials such as self-assembled coordination polymers, mixed metal compounds, and molecular motor by focusing on the correlation between structure and function. Unlike kinetically assembled biological system, in general, most of artificial materials have been prepared by thermodynamic control. In order to design functional materials, it is essential to have a deeper insight into dynamic aspects of materials on the basis of structure. Especially, non-equilibrium state science should be explored in this century, because a non-equilibrium event plays a crucial role in realizing biological and catalytic activities. This symposium highlights recent exciting developments in the field of porous materials, solid state dynamics/reactions, molecular machines, electronic/magnetic properties, and so on.
