Carbenes and Carbenoids in Organic Synthesis (#362)
The importance of carbenes and carbenoids as unique catalysts and intermediates in organic synthesis is exploding in importance due to their unique characteristics and reactivity patterns. The amazing versatility of carbenes as catalysts in a wide variety of different transformations and their carbenoid counterparts as special intermediates in synthesis will be a major focus of the presentations. The symposium will also seek to highlight the interplay between the fundamental physical organic chemistry aspects of carbenes and carbenoids and their distinctive utility in synthetic applications.
