Molecular Probes and Fluorophores for Biological Imaging (#280)

Molecular probes are powerful tools to illuminate biological processes in live cells. The elucidation of the complex dynamics and interplay of proteins, nucleic acids, metabolites, second messengers, and other biomolecules within a living cell represents one of the key challenges in the postgenomic era. Specifically designed fluorescent probes and tags are ideally poised for visualizing and tracking this complex dynamics with minimal interference to the cellular physiology. This symposium will highlight the most recent trends in this emerging research field with a special emphasis on probe and fluorophore development as well as innovative approaches for noninvasive cellular delivery and targeting.
