Design, Synthesis and Applications of Advanced Porous Materials

This symposium will showcase recent advances in the area of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Particular focus will be on the design and synthesis of novel materials for applications to industrially significant gas storage and separations, the exploration of interesting electronic and photophysical properties, the use of MOFs in heterogeneous catalysis, and developments in morphological of MOFs control including the generation of nanocrystals, thin films, and hierarchical architectures. MOFs have entered a phase where material processing and tunability, whether through new ligand design or post-synthetic modification, take a central role in defining functionality. The purpose of the symposium is to highlight research from scientists interested in the above topics and to encourage discussions aimed at increasing the contribution of MOFs to commercial devices and applications.
