This symposium will highlight molecular design and fabrication of advanced soft materials based on synthetic and biological polymers, self-assembled small molecules, and foldamers which integrate the principles of supramolecular chemistry, precision macromolecular synthesis, chemical biology, and biotechnology. The symposium broadly covers interdisciplinary research topics spanning from organic chemistry to polymer chemistry and biology, and features fundamental and exploratory research directed toward novel nanoscopic phenomena, the fabrication of small molecules and macromolecules, electronic/photonic molecular devices, and medicinal/sensory applications. The conference program is designed to provide an overview of the state-of-the art in all of these related research fields. Confirmed invited speakers are Takuzo Aida, Yoshio Bando, Frank Caruso, Gero Decher, Shunsaku Fujii, Craig J. Hawker, Itaru Hamachi, Stefan Hecht, Nobuo Kimizuka, Myongsoo Lee, Ludwik Leibler, Stefan Matile, Bert Meijer, Klaus Mullen, Roeland J. M. Nolte, Rachel O'Reilly, Soo Y. Park, Virgil Percec, Mitsuo Sawamoto, Samuel Stupp, Ulrich Wiesner, Karen Wooley, Fred Wudl, Frank Wurthner, and Eiji Yashima. Contributed papers will be included as oral and poster presentations. We are very pleased to inform you that our symposium (#98) has been placed on the first two days of the Pacifichem 2010 (December 15-16). |
