3 - Macromolecular
Radical Polymerization Kinetics and Mechanisms (#219)
Greg Russell , University of Canterbury, Department of Chemistry, University of Canterbury, Private Bag 4800, Christchurch, Canterbury, NZ, 8140 | Graeme Moad | Per Zetterlund | Robin Hutchinson | Atsushi Goto

This symposium will cover all aspects of radical polymerization kinetics and mechanisms, including: (1) Conventional radical polymerization in homogeneous phase; (2) Conventional radical polymerization in dispersed phase (e.g. emulsion); and (3) Controlled/living radical polymerization. Invited keynote speakers will be Michael Buback, Takeshi Fukuda, Christopher Barner-Kowollik, Michelle Coote and Peter Lovell.

The above foci will dovetail with those of other Pacifichem symposia on "Controlled/Living Radical Polymerization in Dispersed Systems" (#160), "Controlled/Living Radical Polymerization: Mechanisms, Catalysts, Reaction Engineering, Materials and Applications" (#236), and "Frontiers of Precisely Controlled Polymer Synthesis: Fine Control of Polymerization Reaction and Impact on Advanced Material Designs" (#257), which will include a session specifically devoted to radical polymerization. Together all these symposia will form an extended and integrated conference program for those interested in radical polymerization and its products and applications.
