Pacifichem 2015 is excited to have Sam Kean as the Pacifichem 2015 Lecturer. Sam is the New York Times bestselling author of The Disappearing Spoon, The Dueling Neurosurgeons, and The Violinist’s Thumb, all of which discuss scientific discoveries in a narrative style. His unique take on science has made him a consistently popular speaker all over the world. Like his books, his talks use funny, strange, and poignant stories to enliven science and science history. His stories have appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Magazine, Psychology Today, Mental Floss, and Slate, and his work has been featured on NPR’s “Radiolab,” “All Things Considered,” and “Fresh Air.”
